One Monday, wash the Rudraksha mala or bead with Ganges
Water and keep it on any plate. Wash it with fragrant water, unboiled milk, curd oil
(ghee) and honey. Then apply the Paste of white sandalwood on it and offer any flower of
white colour. Rice, bailptra and incense should also be offered, while praying it keep
chanting the mantra, "OM NAMAH SHIVAYA. It increases the concentration. If possible,
one should sit and pray in from of the statue of Lord Shiva, "Lord Shiva! Please,
live in this Rudraksha mala and make it effective and powerful with your generosity. After
wearing it, I must always remain a part of your kindness. Always protect me".
After praying, in this way, purify the mala in the smoke of
incense, touch the biggest bead on your forehead and touch it to the statue of Lord Shiva.
Wear the mala, while chanting the Shiva mantra. Put the mark of asheson your forehead,
then fold your hands to Lord Shiva. This is the easiest way of wearing Rudraksha. The mala
should be taken off while sleeping and should be worn in the morning after taking bath.
For the purpose jap, you can also purfy the mala by the same method and mantra. When it is
not used, it should be kept in red cloth or in bag of any colour, preferrably, red colour.
